Motivation Monday #007 - Get Into Shape

Today brings us the first Motivation Monday of the new year. I want to focus on design elements for this month, so we'll be going with shape this week, line next, and color for the last Monday in January.

Squares, circles, and triangles affect how we pieces of work by creating a line of direction, focal point, or contrast within the piece. Even if the shapes aren't literal, implied line can be used for the same effect. Additionally, organic shapes can provide flow and variety to a piece.

Deconstructing a composition to simply a combination of geometric shapes, however, makes for an aesthetic that's as simple as it is complex, and can range from being calm and soothing to exciting and energetic. Here are some examples of this motif.
